Mr. Monty's Farewell

Hello Parents,

 

As you are probably already aware we will be saying goodbye and good luck to Mr.Monty this year as this is his last year as our principal. 

 

I had an idea for the Parents’ Association to honor Mr.Monty with your well wishes...But I need your help!

I would love for you to send me a few sentences or a brief paragraph of what Mr.Monty has meant to you and/or your kids here at ECPS. 

I would love to share your thoughts and memories with Mr.Monty by pulling all these tributes together for him to read in a coffee table memory book. 

If you have any pictures, heartfelt moments, funnies, well wishes, stories from your kids, a "I will miss you" sentence from your kids...whatever you would like to share please pass it along. 

Also remember you can remain anonymous. :)

Term 3 Marks!

All students got a progress report that showed their marks for Term 3 (LA, Social and Math).  Any students with missing assignments were highlighted.  Students may take the weekend to find/redo any of the recent missing assignments and hand them in on Monday.

I will send the revised progress reports home next week for students to show their parents.

You all have passwords for Khan Academy.  Please explain to your parents what this is.  If you are practicing your Math skills, they can also use your password to go on to your account and check your progress.

On Monday, we will be practicing Multiples and Factors.  You may get a head start on this over the weekend.

When you log into your account, click "PRACTICE."  Then, on the map, click "Multiples and Factors."  It should take you to your practice questions.

We will be doing this in class on Monday too.  If you choose to practice before class, I'll use Monday's scores for my evaluation!

McHappy Day!

Hello Parents,

Once again, the staff of ÉCPS is supporting McHappy Day on Wednesday, May 2^nd, from 4:30 – 7:30 at the Leduc North End McDdonald’s.  Our staff will be serving ice cream, drinks, coffee, selling McHappy paraphernalia, and waiting on tables.  Remember, both Ronald McDonald House of Edmonton and a local children’s charity, will receive $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and hot McCafe beverage sold during this year’s annual fundraiser at the Leduc  McDonald’s.  We hope you come to visit us and support McHappy Day.

Math and Social Tests went home earlier in the week.  Please make sure you show your parents!

Parents can ask me to send some practice sheets home to work on if your child has not done well on ANY of the tests this year.  They will be responsible for all content when they write their PAT test in June.

Student Vote

I am incredibly impressed with the grade 6s enthusiasm towards learning about our local government and the provincial elections.  All of the grade 6s cast their votes for our local candidates today.  We will be submitting our results and see how the student vote compares to the outcome on election day!

Language Arts

1. Complete your worksheet on dialogue punctuation.  Use your notes and the handout we corrected today to help you.

2.  Write a conversation between 2 people.  In your conversation, each person may speak twice.  The rest of the paragraphs should be narrative.  (So tell a part of a story with 2 people involved who speak twice each.)  This mini-assignment should be one third to half a page.

Don't forget, we will be casting our votes for the Student Vote tomorrow!  If you have to, study up on your local candidates!


Homework:  Dinner table discussion-You have 3 items (questions we discussed in class and wrote down) to discuss with your parents.  Ask for their point of view and let them know what yours is.  I can't wait to hear about your discussions tomorrow in class!

IMPORTANT HOT LUNCH UPDATE!

Hot Lunch Update

-There will be NO items sold to students for cash the day of hot lunch. There are two reasons for this: we don’t always have food left over, if parents are sending their children to school expecting them to be able to purchase items, there may be no items to purchase and their child may go hungry which is unacceptable. Also, we are having the teachers redistribute extra / left over food to the children in their class whom they know to get little to no lunch. This way they can ensure they are getting food and be able to perform the follow up with the parents as required.

  

-No late orders will be accepted.

1. MANY students do not have a protractor for Math (YOU NEED IT).  Please get one and bring it to school ASAP.  We have been using them for a week now and some people still do not have one with them in class.

2.  Other things that you may need that many are out of -scissors, pencils, calculators, pencils, ruler etc.

    Due to the timing of when the bingo check comes out CPF will already be dissolved and the bingo hall has agreed to let CPF donate what we make on our last bingo to ECPS.  I am desperately trying to fill this 1 last bingo this Saturday afternoon March 10th at 11:45am.  This is no longer money for CPF but for our school and I am still in desperate need of 5 or 6 (1 maybe) more Volunteers so if you are available Please contact me via info below as soon as you can.   Thank You all  in advance!
